D&D Fundrasier
Thank you everyone for comingo out to support us at our very first D&D sponsored fundrasier.
Despite the sound issues, we hope everyone had a good time and enjoyed our performances.
Thank you all dancesport members who attended and participated!

Club Payment Issues
Dancesport sadly does not hire the mafia to come and get you. Not because we don't have the money, but because
we decided that we should trust our members
Having said that, we do need members who, if are interested in staying in Dancesport this quarter
to pay your club fees. Those who do not pay their fees by next Tuesday will not be allowed to participate in the next
Tuesday, Sunday and Thursday practices.
Members who are going to SLO, if you do not pay your fees, both club and competition fees, you will not be allowed
to go.

Dancesport Fundraiser/D&D Dance Studio
Dancesport at UCR is proud to present it's first anual dance social.
There will be a social dancing and a performance from the Dancesport members themselves as well.
Come support the club and to have a good time dancing the night away!

Student Practices & Competitions
We will be spending a majority of time in the Tuesdays and Sunday practices preparing competators for the competitions.
This does not mean those who choose not to compete will not be allowed to attend. Feel free to come and get your extra
practicing in as well.
We will be sending out an email to the competators to let you know your patnerships by this Tuesday evening.

Winter Quarter
We hope you all had a great winter break and a happy holidays. School is now back in session and
the dance season has started again. As you know we had a successful Festival of Lights last quarter.
For those of you who participated, it was a good experience to practice your dance moves and routines in public.
The perfect way to practice for...competitions.
That's right folks. This quarter we shall be going to competitions. Though it is not obligated to participate,
we do encourage you to give it a try as it is the best way to refind your skills and excell your dancing to the
next level. Please see the news updates below and on the competitions page for more information.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Mustang Ball
The Mustang Ball will be the first competition Dancesport at UCR is attending. The date is coming up soon
and we need to know ASAP if you want to be a part of it. Contact Jennifer Huey or Ashley Thompson if you are intersted.
We will need to know by Thursday January 12. I know it is late notice, but the competition is coming up soon.
We will be letting you know the price for the competition soon.

Festival of Lights Updates
See events page for more details, such as date and time.
As you know, we have already mentioned about signing up for Festival of Lights.
For those who have decided to participate, a requirement is to come to Sunday practices
because that is where we shall be practicing the routines for the performance.
We will also be practicing on Tuesdays as well, but it is required to come to Sunday
practices. If you can't come to Sunday practices let Fook know, although keep in mind
that not coming to enough of the practices will affect the number of dances you will have.
This performance shall is runned by Fook and Virginia so they have the final say in everything.
If you have any questions or concerns, talk to them.

Festival of Lights updates.
We will be practicing for the Festival of Lights on November 6th at the Sunday practices.
If you would like to be a part of it, come that Sunday. We will be performing basic routines
and everyone is welcome to be a part of it, old and new members. We just need you to come
to the practices to learn the routines and work with your partners.

Foxtrot Workshop
For those who came to the workshop...that was something else wasn't it?
It goes to show you how much more we all have to learn to get better at ballroom, but don't
let the advance routine sway your confidence. Even the best of us has to start somewhere and hopefully
you got to see a glimpse of how good you can be with proper practice and dedication.
For those who paid for the workshop, see Fook in Thursday's class to get your reimbursement.
Ready for more? Well you just have to wait until next quarter for our next workshop.

New dances this week!
Hey Everyone. So this week, we are starting on two new dances, the American Rumba
and the American Foxtrot. Those who came to tonight's tuesday practice got a small witness of the Rumba
Slower than the Cha Cha, but just as sexy and fun! Combined with the jazzy Foxtrot,
these two dances are loads of fun to do on the dance floor. Don't miss out!

No Sunday Practice this week!
There is no Sunday practice this week. Instead, we are having our American Foxtrot workshop.
If you have not informed one of the officers that you want to attend, let them know right away.
Remember, one of the advantages of being a member of Dancesport is that you get to attend the workshop
for free, as the club pays for your spot in the class.
Just make sure you are able to come otherwise you will be wasting the club's money!

NEW REC CENTER RULES!!!!
The Rec Center now requires that every club member signs a waiver form before being allowed
to participate. Here is the link for the form http://studentlife.ucr.edu/studentOrganizations/Pages/Registration.aspx
Please fill out the from and show proof that you have sign it before you come in to class.
(You only have to sign and show us once, you don't have to bring it to every class.)

American Foxtrot Workshop, Sunday October 30
We will be having an American Foxtrot Workshop. We will be going over a beginner-intermediate routine
and going over foxtrot technique. It will take place at 4-7PM.
Everyone is welcome to join. $15 for students and $20 for non students.
Club members, speak to an officer for payment information.
Last day of registration is Friday October 28,2011 before 6PM for non club members, whether they are
students or not.

USC Competition Updates!
USC's Ballroom Ball is for USC students and alumni. If we go, we'd have to pay money and
request to be on their guest list, which is limited. We've decided not to go as a club and spend the club's
money and time on other things.
If you would like to go on your own, you are welcome to contact USC's Ballroom team and request to be on the

You will be able to log in and change your dances/partners after you register. Shasha will be collecting team entry fees and Shasha and Fook will be helping with partnerships and registration. If you need help with partnering, registering, or preparing, please contact us.
Deadline: All Dancesport-UCR team members wishing to compete should submit their entry fees to Shasha by December 5th, the last day of Kipp's class. |

| Any Club member can join the competition team! There's no extra requirement to be on the team, except your enthusiasm to improve your dancing skill. Just let the Club officers know that you are interested in joining the competition team anytime. |
