Professional Instructor
Kipp Duran is an experienced professional dance teacher who has both competed in and taught American style ballroom for many years. His relaxed style of instruction makes learning fast and fun. Private lessons are also available by arrangement at 951-283-2035. |

Beginner Ballroom and Nightclub class |
This series is an excellent introduction to ballroom dancing as either an exercise, a social grace, or as a competitor. A wide variety of dances is covered, primarily in the American Smooth and Rhythm styles. For Winter and Spring Quarters, each dance will be taught for three weeks, and the first hour of each class will be at a beginner level, and the second hour will be at an intermediate level. No partner or experience necessary!

Important Notice for anyone not a UCR student:
All non-UCR students must email Fook Tham in advance of the Tuesday lessons (email: fook.tham[at]ucr.edu) so that their names are on the guest list in order to enter the Student Recreation Center for free for the Tuesday Dancesport lessons only. All non-UCR students will have to pay a $5 admission fee as a guest associate for the Sunday practices if they want the added practice time.

Beginner International Ballroom and Latin Dance
|
This class is focused on the steps and technique of International style Ballroom Dance. This style is danced socially around the globe and is also used extensively in ballroom competitions. Two dances will be taught each quarter enabling a greater concentration on technique and style. No experience is necessary.

The Argentine Tango - This is the ultimate dance of love and attraction!
Danced to the sensual music of the bandoneon the steps evoke the yearning for companionship and comfort in a strange land.
This dance celebrates the triumph of the human spirit that is expressed in intricate footwork patterns forming a conversation in dance.
Dare to become fascinated as we explore the passionate world of the Argentine Tango and learn the Beginning steps that form the basis for this unique dance.

Fook Tham
Amateur Instructor
Fook Tham is a veteran International Style dancer who has been a consistent finalist in amateur and professional competitions for the last ten years. He has assisted the Dancesport team with practices since the club's inception and is the organizer of the Orange Blossom Ball. |

Fee and registration for these 8 week classes (no class on 11/28) are handled by the Student Recreation Center Leisure Line.
Dancesport Club Membership is NOT INCLUDED.
